On 17 March 2021 Luca Pandolfi perished in an avalanche above Flassin at Saint-Oyen in the Aosta Valley. Known by everyone, the Italian was a highly regarded snowboarder.

On 10/03/2021 Frenchmen Paul Bonhomme and Vivian Bruchez skied the SE Face of Tête Carrée in the Mont Blanc massif. Called La Testa tra le stelle, the line is likely to be the first ski descent of this face.

On 4/03/2021 alpinists and extreme skiers Ian McIntosh and Christina Lusti Lustenberger completed their childhood dream by scoring the first ski descent of Mount Nelson in Canada, skiing the mountain's striking East Face.

On 6 March 2021 Paul Bonhomme and Xavier Cailhol skied La Cathédrale (1600m, 5.4-5.5/E4) down Rochers du Rochail in the Oisans massif, France.

American alpinists Jason Torlano and Zach Milligan have skied down Half Dome. This is reputed to be the first integral descent from the summit all the way back down into Yosemite Valley.

French mountain guide Paul Bonhomme has made a new ski descent down Mont Pélago (2768m) the Mercantour massif in France. The 600m descent is called Les Larmes d’Ulysse.

Brette Harrington, Christina Lustenberger and Andrew McNab have made the first ski descent of Gold Card Couloir located between Mount Burnham and Mount Grady in the Monashee Mountains, Canada.

The first stage of the 2020/2021 Ski Mountaineering World Cup took place last weekend in Ponte di Legno, Italy. The Sprint race was won by Marianne Fatton and Thibault Anselmet while the Vertical Race was dominated by Axelle Gachet Mollaret and Federico Nicolini.
