On 6/07 the Slovenian mountaineers Pavle Kozjekande Gregor Kresal made the first ascent of Stonehenge (VII+/VI, 70/50° ice, 600m), up the East face of Puscantrupa Este (5410m), Cordillera Huayhuash, Peru.

Two new routes solo by Ezio Marlier, Spirito Libero (600m IV/4/M4) on Monte Emilius and Aragon (500m IV/4+/M6/A1) on Granta Parey, plus the solo repeats of some classic climbs on Mont Blanc du Tacul and Grandes Jorasses give some food for thought about climbing "without partners".

In February 2007 Cyrille Berthod and Simon Anthamatten travelled to Patagonia for their first time ever and climbed 8 major peaks in the Fitz Roy massif - De L’S, Saint Exupery, St.Raphael, Poincenot, Fitz Roy, Mermoz, Guillaumet and Cerro Torre.

At the end of December a Japanese expedition led by Osamu Tanabe managed to climb the south Fasce of Lhotse (8516m) in winter, but turned back 40m short of the summit.

On 02/10/2006 Pavle Kozjek from Slovenia climbed a new route solo up the South East Face of Cho Oyu (8201m).

On 8 May Denis Urubko and Serguey Samoilov summited Manaslu via new route up the NE Face.

Nives Meroi and Romano Benet from Italy summited Dhaulagiri at 14.30 yesterday. The Italians climbed without supplementary oxygen and without high altitude porters

On 10/02 in Grenoble the golden ice axe, the mountaineering oscar 2005, was awarded to Steve House and Vincent Anderson for their new route up the Rupal Face on Nanga Parbat.

The six candidates for the prestigious Piolet d'or, promoted by the French Montagnes Magazine and awarded in Grenoble, France on 10 February.

In mid-August Dodo Kopold and Gabo Cmarik from Slovakia made the first ascent of "Assalam Alaikum" UIAA VIII A2, ABO on Great Trango, Pakistan.

At 11.30 on 25/07/2005 Denis Urubko and Serguey Samoilov reached the summit of Broad Peak (8.048m Himalaya, Karakorum) via a new route up the SW Face.

On 15/05 Kristian Kuntner (ITA) and Norbert Joos (SUI) reached the summit of Lhotse without the use of supplementary oxygen. This is the 13th annd 1th 800m peak respectively.
