Alessandro Baù, Claudio Migliorini and Nicola Tondini have made the first ascent of big new multi-pitch rock climb up Cima Ovest di Lavaredo, Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Dolomites.

The fourth stage of the Lead World Cup 2019 was won in Kranj, Slovenia, yesterday by Adam Ondra and Chaehyun Seo. Jessica Pilz and Kai Harada took silver, Lučka Rakovec and Alberto Ginés López bronze.

On 5 September 2019 Swiss alpinist Dani Arnold made a free solo ascent of the Comici - Dimai route up Cima Grande di Lavaredo in the Tre Cime di Lavaredo massif, Dolomites, in just 46 minutes and 30 seconds.

In just a single session Swiss climber Cédric Lachat managed to climb Zahir, the 8b+ multi-pitch route up the compact Wendenstöcke limestone in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland.

On Sunday 15 September 2019 Aaron Durogati and Mirco Grasso climbed Moby Dick up the South Face of Marmolada in the Dolomites to the famous halfway ledge from where they took off with a two-person paraglider. The experience reminded the South Tyrolean pilot of his recent paraglides in Patagonia.

France’s Christophe Henry is currently on an extended skiing trip to Chile where he has scored a number of first ski descents, including Colmillo Del Diablo in Patagonia with Juan Señoret.

On 17 September 2019 British rock climber Emma Twyford successfully redpointed Big Bang at Lower Pen Trwyn in North Wales. In doing so she has become the first British woman to climb 9a.

Summer climbing in the mountains resulted in three hard multipitches for Jacopo Larcher and Barbara Zangerl: Silbergeier and Headless Children in the Rätikon in Switzerland and Zeit zum Atmen up Rote Wand in Austria.

On 16 September 2019 the Slovenian mountaineer and extreme skier Davo Karničar lost his life. Karničar was famous in particular for his first integral ski descent of Everest down the mountain’s south face.

At Rocklands in South Africa the Swiss climbers Giuliano Cameroni and Fred Nicole have both climbed Legacy, a 9a sports climb.
