Making the first ascent of the NE Face of Cerro Cachet in Northern Patagonia (Lukas Hinterberger, Nicolas Hojac, Stephan Siegrist)
Towards the end of 2019 the Swiss mountaineers Lukas Hinterberger, Nicolas Hojac and Stephan Siegrist travelled to Northern Patagonia where they completed a rare ascent of Cerro Largo (2799m) before breaching the virgin northeast face of Cerro Cachet. The 2700m peak had only been climbed once previously, in 1971 by a team of climbers from New Zealand, and the new Swiss route Homenaje a los amigos perdidos was dedicated to three friends who died prematurely, namely David Lama, Ueli Steck and Julian Zanker.
