Sung Su Lee seizes Dreamcatcher (9a) at Squamish in Canada
There are routes so beautiful that climbers are willing to travel halfway around the world to climb them. Dreamcatcher is one of these. Freed in 2005 by Chris Sharma on the Cacodemon boulder on The Chief above Squamish in Canada, this diagonal rail of holds has rapidly evolved into one of the most iconic sport climbs in the world. The 10-bolt line is split into 4 distinct sections, a technical slab, burly slopers, painful finger locks and a campus crux around the corner
One of the latest to visit North America especially for this climb is South Korean climber Sung Su Lee. After sending the 9A boulders Alphane in Chironico and Burden of Dreams in Finland, the 27-year-old has now added this outrageous line to his résumé. One single trip, seven intense sessions, and – on the very last day – the dream was caught.
