Elias Iagnemma making the first ascent of 'Exodia', possible first 9A+ boulder problem in the world
Video: Elias Iagnemma & Exodia, the world’s first proposed 9A+ boulder
The video of Elias Iagnemma making the first ascent of 'Exodia', the first boulder in the world to be graded 9A+.
After four and a half years of attempts and more than 200 sessions, on 10 november 2025 Elias Iagnemma finally sent Exodia, a problem at Rifugio Barbara in Val Pellice, Italy, for which he suggested the unprecedented grade of 9A+. After a slew of 9A's, at present this is the world's first - and currently only - 9A+ boulder problem.
The project became a daily routine, with moments of hope followed by crushing setbacks. The line combines an 8B+ lead‑in, an 8C+ crux, and an upside‑down rest that drains everything else. The grade currently awaits confirmation.
