American rock climber Sean Bailey has made the first ascent of 'Duality of Man' (9c) at Dry Canyon, Arizona, USA.

American rock climber Alex Honnold has successfully completed his free solo ascent of the Taipei 101 skyscraper in Taiwan. The 40-year-old required 1 hour and 31 minutes to climb one of the tallest buildings in the world.

On 7 January 2026 Russian alpinists Boris Egorov, Vladimir Murzaev, Konstantin Yaemurd made the first BASE jump off Fitz Roy (Cerro Chaltén) in Patagonia. Egorov reports.

Scottish climber William Bosi has made the first ascent of 'Pôr Do Sol' at Sintra close to Lisbon. Graded 8C+/V16, it is currently the hardest boulder problem in Portugal.

From 27- 30 December 2025 French mountaineers Léo Billon, Amaury Fouillade, Nicolas Jean and Enzo Oddo made the first ascent of 'Basique' (1100m, V+ A2+ M5) up Point Whymper (4184m) on the north face of Grandes Jorasses in the Mont Blanc massif.

Olivier Kolly, Filippo Sala and Silvan Schüpbach have made the first ascent of 'Le clin d’œil' on the north face of Dent Blanche (4357m) in Switzerland. The new route, climbed on 28 and 29 December 2025, forms part Schüpbach's 'The 6 Forgotten North Face' project.

On the Southwest face of Mount Gulba in Georgia's Caucasus mountains a women's expedition comprised of Elena Barbist, Elisabeth Mayr, Elena Prem, Hannah Rabl, Jana Scheiring and Babsi Vigl has made the first ascent 'Pferderennen02'. The September 2025 expedition was the final stage of the Austrian Alpinkader program. Mayr reports.

On 29 November Jacopo Larcher from the South Tyrol, Italy repeated the E12 trad climb 'Bon Voyage' (E12) at Annot in France. This is the 4th ascent after James Pearson, Adam Ondra and Seb Berthe.

American alpinists Alex Hansen and Benjamin Lieber have made the first ascent of Changla Khang West (6233m) in Nepal. The pair climbed the mountain alpine style over a period of five days via the Southwest Ridge (1200m, WI4 M4). Lieber provides details.

On Shadow Buttress at Lochnagar in Scotland Greg Boswell has established two new mixed climbs, Shadow Buttress A Superdirect and Shadowboxin. The former was climbed with Hamish Frost, the latter with Dave Cowan.
