On 25/06/2011 a Russian expedition comprised of Alexander Odintsov, Alexey Lonchinskiy, Ivan Dozhdev and Eugeniy Dmitrienko summited Latok III (6949m) in Pakistan's karakoram via the hitherto unclimbed West Face.

On 26/07/2009 Veikka Gustafson reached the summit of Gasherbrum I together with Japanese climber Kazuya Hiraide and four Bulgarians. For the mountaineer from Finland this seals his bid to climb all fourteen 8000m peaks without supplementary oxygen.

The third edition of the Piolet d'Or Asia will take place in Seoul at 20.00 this evening. This imporant meeting and award has become a classic event to analyse the state of Asian mountaineering.

Dodo Kopold and Gabo Cmarik have made the f.a. of the NW Face of Uli Biaho 6417m, Karakorum, Pakistan. They also climbed a route up Hainabrakk East Tower (5800m) to 5375m.

In a two week trip Ryan Nelson and Jared Ogden from Colorado repeated some of the hardest dry tooling routes in Europe, including Mission Impossible and Vertical Limit.
