French alpinist Gaëlle Cavalié was found alive and well on Saturday 18 May after going missing in the Mont Blanc massif. On Tuesday 14 May Cavalié had set off to climb Aiguille Verte.

On 15 May Russian alpinist Alexey Bolotov died above the Khumbu Icefall on the South Face of Everest.
