Tobias Engl, Florian Huber establish Dolasilla up Lavarella in the Dolomites
The topo of Dolasilla (VIII-, 300m) established by Tobias Engl and Florian Huber up Piz Lavarella (Conturines - Lavarella) in the Dolomites. According to the first ascentionists this is likely to be the first route up the mountain’s west face.
Dolasilla is the first route on the west face of Lavarella that breaches the slabs clearly visible from Val Badia and finishes directly at the summit. It provides technical slab climbing and a beautiful traverse and is well worth repeating. In line with the local ethics, the route was first ascended on 14 September ground-up without the use of bolts. We left all pegs in-situ and, wherever possible, used trad gear. In addition to a full rack, take a set of Totem friends, ideally two of the medium and larger sizes.
