Swiss alpinists Jonas Schild and Stephan Siegrist have established OeschiMixTrix, a new three-pitch mixed climb at Kandersteg in Switzerland. Located to the right of Januarloch, the pair had noticed the line at the start of the season and climbed it on 29 January 2022.

The first two pitches breach mixed terrain, and these are capped by a short, 20m pitch up water ice. Cams, nuts, short ice screws and peckers are necessary for a repeat. The first two belays are bolted, and both mixed pitches contain two bolts since, as Schild explains "Unfortunately the loose limestone didn't enable us to climb the route without bolts."

The two plan to return to their route in due course. Schild told planetmountain.com "As soon as the avalanche situation has settled down we'd like to climb the righthand drip. Although the rock quality here isn't the best, it's still OK. We'll see."
