The South Tyrolean climbers Simon Gietl, Daniel Tavernini and Klaus Gruber have carried out the first winter ascents of ISO2000 (Tre Cime di Lavaredo) and Zauberlehrling (Cima Scotoni) in the Dolomites.

In July the South Tyroleans Kurt Astner and Christoph Hainz freed their Pressknödl (400m, 7c) on the Cima Ovest di Lavaredo, Dolomites.

On 13 to 15 August the Italian Kurt Astner made the first free ascent of Akut, his route first climbed in August 2000 on the impressive north face of the Cima Ovest di Lavaredo.
