Jackson Hole has so much skiing, they say, that you never have to ski the same run twice. Some descents are worth repeating though, such as the extraordinary Corbet’s Couloir or, right next-door, the famous S&S Couloir. This daring dive got its name from the two who skied it for the first time, the ski patrollers Charlie Sand and John Simms: legend has it that they never revealed who was actually the first to make the drop in. This secret has probably not even been revealed to die-hard local William Bowen - better known as Wild Bill - who for the last 30 years has celebrated his birthday by skiing this chute, described as one of the hardest runs in North America. A true living legend, who in mid-February 2016 celebrated his 63rd birthday.
