Italian mountaineers Nicola Castagna and Gabriel Perenzoni are currently climbing all 82 peaks over 4,000m in the Alps. Having set off on 4 May 2021, the two aspirant mountain guides have already climbed 30 mountains as part of their project called Altavia 4000.

British mountaineers John McCune and Will Sim have climbed what is likely to be a new route to the left of Beyond Good and Evil on the North Face of Aiguille de Pélerins in the Mont Blanc massif. Above and Beyond has been graded ED M6 6b+.

On 24/02/2021 the Italian mountaineers Matteo Della Bordella, Giacomo Mauri and Luca Schiera made the first ascent of Il Regalo di Berna, a new route on the South Face of the Grandes Jorasses dedicated to Matteo Bernasconi. Della Bordella reports.

In Pinnistal, a small side valley of the Stubaital in Austria, Simon Messner and Martin Sieberer have established Eremit, a difficult mixed climb protected with trad gear and pegs. Messner reports.

During a press conference held in Skardu today Muhammad Ali Sadpara, John Snorri Sigurjónsson and Juan Pablo Mohr Prieto were officially declared dead, The three mountaineers were last seen on 5 February at the Bottleneck while climbing towards the summit of K2 in winter.
