Watch Neil Dickson onsight The Hollowman (E8) at Gogarth, North Wales
The Brit Rock video of Neil Dickson onsighting 'The Hollowman' (E8 6c) at Gogarth in North Wales in 2008. Even by today's standards this is considered one of the most impressive onsight ascents of a British trad route.
Back in 2008 a young and extremely bold Neil Dickson made one the most impressive onsight ascents of a British trad route, even by today's standards. The Hollowman at Gogarth on tiny Holy Island just off Anglesey in North Wales is a very serious route, providing technical climbing rated at E8 6c, something in the region of French 7b/+, with very poor protection. First ascended by Andy Pollitt and Johnny Dawes in 1986, it is basically a solo where falling off is quite simply not an option. Dickson's audacious ascent was captured by Alastair Lee for the award-winning Brit Rock film On-sight, and the extract has now been released online.
