Conditions this autumn have been outstanding for sport climbing. Yesterday Italy’s Laura Rogora, at the increasingly popular Padaro crag above Arco, took advantage of the dry and cold spell to make the first repeat of The Bow. This 9a+ had been put up by Stefano Ghisolfi in mid-July and and the 19-year-old Roman climber now needed less than 20 attempts for her redpoint.

The Bow is now Rogora's second 9a+ after having repeated Pure Dreaming Plus at Massone in Arco in June; this was followed later in the summer by her repeat of the 9b Ali hulk sit extension total at Rodellar in Spain which placed her as one of the strongest climbers in the world.

In other climbing news across Europe, 20-year-old Austrian Eva Hammelmüller repeated Tunnelblick at Achleiten and 24-year-old Frenchwoman Julia Chanourdie at Saint Léger du Ventoux in France redpointed La ligne claire in just 4 attempts. Both of these routes are graded a whopping 8c+...
