Bila Pec, the magnificent mountain crag at Sella Nevea in Italy's Julian Alps
Bila Pec is a "stratospheric rock gem" just five minutes from the Gilberti Hut, a stone's throw from the top station of the Sella Nevea cable car in NE Italy. Famous for its multi‑pitch routes, the first sector bolted specifically for sport climbing dates back to the 1990s. Starting from 2017, the year of the first Nevee Outdoor Festival, several new and interesting sectors have been added.
The climbing is on beautiful, compact limestone sculpted into crimps, pockets, water drops, and runnels. The style is technical and demands good finger strength, on routes of various lengths and difficulties. Situated at over 1,800 metres above sea level and facing predominantly east, the crag is ideal for summer climbing, offering an welcome escape from the heat.
