Jonathan Siegrist has repeated Lapsus, Stefano Ghisolfi's 2015 testpiece at Andonno repeated previously by Adam Ondra (2017) and Marcello Bombardi (2021). Siegrist had first attempted the line for four or five days in early 2020 but had to return home in a hurry when the coronavirus struck the country.

18 months later he returned to Cuneo to complete unfinished business and on Monday, after 7 more sessions, he clipped the anchor after fighting his way past the 70+ moves. Siegrist, whose past highlights include the 9b's Jumbo Love at Clark Mountain (USA) and La planta de Shiva at Villanueva del Rosario (Spain), opted against the kneebar that Bombardi had discovered and gave the route 9a+/b.

"I chose not to use it, because I liked the challenge of doing the route in the same way that Stefano and Adam did it. Like this I believe it is 'easy for the grade' 9b" the 36-year-old told planetmountain.com, adding "I love Andonno! I really like historic crags and also less popular crags. I think it's fun to explore these places. Andonno is for sure popular at the weekends, but during the week it's empty. Pretty nice!"

Siegrist's Italy tour continues and he now has his sights set on the crag Camaiore in Tuscany. No prizes for guessing what he might have in mind there. La Terza Eta and Naturalmente spring to mind immediately...
