"I always listen to my inner voice, and on Cerro Torre and Fitz Roy it told me to retreat, while on Pollone it pushed me up onto the summit." The inner voice belongs to Markus Pucher who on 17 September 2016 completed the first solo winter ascent of Cerro Pollone in Patagonia.
In our interview immediately after his outstanding ascent, the Austrian mountaineer stated he'd return to Patagonia to try, despite having been forced back 40 meters below the summit earlier that month, to realise his long-term dream: the first solo winter ascent of Cerro Torre.
