Cjanevate 150 and Arrampicarnia 2018, the great climbing meeting in the Carnic Alps

From 13 to 15 July 2018 Passo di Monte Croce Carnico in the Carnic Alps, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy, will host the historic climbing meeting Arrampicarnia. The event will also celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first ascent of Crete delle Chianevate. Three days of rock climbing, encounters, courses, walks, activities for children and guided ascents up Via Grohmann and Via Normale.

Both Nina Caprez and Barbara Zangerl have repeated Die Unendliche Geschichte, first climbed by Beat Kammerlander in 1990 in the Rätikon massif, Switzerland. 420m high and graded 8b+, this climb had previously only been repeated once, by Italy's Pietro dal Prà in 2005.

Melloblocco, 2013, day eight: climbing without limits

While over 1300 Melloblockers have already registered and many more are expected, sunny Val Masino welcomed the initiative Climbing without limits promoted by the region of Lombardy, CIP, FASI, ERSAF which aims at a different form of taking to the mountains, for everyone. Paraclimbing athletes Silvia Parente, Simone Salvagnin and Giulia Poggioli, along with Antonio Rossi, Olympic gold canoeist and Councillor for Sport and Youth Policies for the Lombardy Region, took part in Melloblocco along with 70 other youngsters and not so youngs climbers who are either blind, visually impaired or disabled.

Last June Florian Riegler, climbing with Rebecca Finch, climbed "Via della cattedrale" (max 8a+, 21 pitches) on the South Face of the Marmolada in 12 hours. This is probably the first repeat after the first free ascent at the hands of Pietro dal Prà five years ago. But above all, as Riegler explains, this is the most beautiful climb he's done in the Dolomites.
