The Janez Jeglič – Johan Memorial competition was won at Osp in Slovenia by Mina Markovič and Jernej Kruder. The event took place in memory of the famous Slovenian mountaineer who perished on Nupste in 1997.

Slovenian alpinist Janez Svoljšak passed away on 15 July at base camp while on an expedition to climb Tahu Rutum (6650m), Karakorum, Pakistan. The promising mountaineer was just 25 years old.

On 22 December 2010 the Slovenian alpinists Francek Knez and Silvo Karo were awarded the Order of Merit by Slovenia's President Dr. Danilo Tuerk.
