Austrian climber Barbara Zangerl is the recipient of the Paul Preuss Prize 2025. Nepal's Pasang Lhamu Sherpa Akita has been nominated National Geographic People’s Choice adventurer of the year 2016. Apart from being a highly talented mountainer, Pasang Lhamu distinguished herself for her role in relief efforts after the country suffered a severe earthquake in April 2015.

Monaco is currently welcoming a record number of exhausted athletes after hiking and flying from Salzburg  in the Red Bull X-Alps 2015.

With today's prologue of the Red Bull X-Alps, the countdown has begun for the world's toughest adventure race. On Sunday 5 July 32 athletes from 18 nations will race for over 1000km, on foot or by paraglider, across Europe’s most spectacular scenery.

No Way Down: Life and Death on K2 by Graham Bowley has now been published in Italy by Mondadori. The book retraces the 2008 tragedy on K2 which cost the lives of 11 alpinists and only Italian mountaineer Marco Confortola survived.

American rock climber Dean Potter has been named adventurer of the year by National Geographic Adventure Magazine.
