In April 2011 Eliza Kubarska and David Kaszlikowski from Poland established Polish Princess (7b+max, 270m) on Dragon Horns (Bukit Nanek Simukut) on Tioman Island, Malaysia.

On 31/03 and 01/04/2011 Rolando Larcher, Luca Giupponi and Nicola Sartori completed the first ascent of Pompa Funebre (150m, 8b max, 7a+ obligatory). The route had previously been started by Larcher, Giupponi and Maurizio Oviglia up the NE Face of Monte Pellegrino (Palermo, Sicily).

On 9 May 2011, imediately after Melloblocco, James Pearson carried out the first repeat of "Quello che non c’è" 8c+ on Sasso Remenno in Val Masino, Italy.

With 2500 registered climbers on the second day, the eighth Melloblocco has already broken all previous records. The number will increase tomorrow during the final day of the world's biggest bouldering and climbing meeting.

After yesterday's debut, Melloblocco #8 got underway in Val Masino today, Friday 6 May. More than 1300 registered climbers have already reached the valley to take part in the world's biggest climbing and bouldering meeting, but the number continues to rise by the hour and over 2500 climbers are expected...

On the same day American climber Chris Sharma added another 9b to Oliana close to Lleida in Spain, Fight or flight, and climbed the 9a+ direct start Chaxi.
