The Ragni di Lecco mountaineering club has decided to support the development of new cliffs in Southern Italy.

Climbing in Europe from the point of view of ace American climber Tommy Caldwell who ascended a series of difficult multi-pitches in Rätikon, Val Bavona and Wenden, including the repeat of Portami Via which included the first ascent of a pitch variation.

On 03/09/2011 Matteo Della Bordella and fabio palma made the first one-day ascent of their "Infinite Jest" (640m 8a+/8b max, 7b obl.), the new route forged by the Ragni di Lecco members up the Mahren rock face in Wenden, Switzerland.

On 28 December 2010 the American climber Cody Roth carried out the first repeat of Malvasia at Dvigrad in Croatia, the route bolted in 1987 and freed in 1988 by Maurizio 'Manolo' Zanolla which no one had managed to repeat. Roth believes the route to be a good 8c+... The...

In January 2010 a new route was established on Monte Ginnircu at Baunei, Sardinia. A first pitch was created in 2007 by fabio palma and Matteo Della Bordella, and in January fabio palma joined forces with Domenico 'Dodo' Soldarini to complete the line.

On 12 July the Italian Ragni di Lecco Simone Pedeferri, fabio palma and Andrea Pavan made the first ascent of "Qui io vado ancora" 7c max, 7a oblig with two pitches of A1 in Peru's Quebrada Rurec valley.

At the start of December Giovanni Ongaro, fabio palma, Simone Pedeferri and Marco Vago travelled to Kalymnos, Greece, where they made the first ascent of two new multi-pitch routes.

On Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 May, over 300 boulderers met up in the Italian Val di Mello and took part in the two-day international Bouldering event, organised by the Lombardy Mountain Guides.
