Rock Master Stories, Arco hosts the Champions evening on Friday
Adam Ondra, Mina Markovič, Stefano Ghisolfi and Jakob Schubert, or four absolute sport climbing champions, will talk about their early climbing competitions at the Youth World Championships 2019 in Arco. David Lama, Albino Marchi and Giuseppe Filippi will be remembered during the evening event.
Adam Ondra, Mina Markovič, Stefano Ghisolfi and Jakob Schubert, or four absolute competition climbing champions. This quartet will be the star guests of the special evening on Friday 30th August that the Arco climbing club has dedicated to the World Youth Climbing Championships. The intent is to retrace the most recent history of this young sport. But also, and above all, to provide inspiration for the many young boys and girls who will travel to Arco from all over the world specifically for these world championships. The idea is for the youngsters to look towards their future, and that of this sport, and be inspired by the "stories" of these four athletes who have contributed inordinately to the overall success of the competition.
It’s no coincidence that all four have competed regularly at Arco, from when they were young at the Rock Junior comp, to the Rock Master event designed for the best of the best. Having Ondra, Markovic, Ghisolfi and Schubert on stage is a way to highlight that, even during these Youth World Championships, the story that began 33 years ago continues to evolve. In short, Arco and its Rock Master continue to inspire climbers and fuel their dreams.
So, starting from their humble beginnings, from their first Youth World Championships, these champions will share their love for climbing up on stage. A passion they share with the hundreds of youngsters taking part in the Arco World Championships, and with those who will unleash the positive energy that only sports can produce.
The evening, hosted by World Championship speaker Simone Raina, will also include two extremely important moments. The first: in memoriam of David Lama, the highly talented Austrian climber and mountaineer, who perished last April on Howse Peak in Canada. When he was a tiny youngster Arco and the Rock Master were David’s second home and through his undisputed class he anticipated the Olympic era. A special event will be dedicated to him during the evening celebration, with the participation of Italian artist Michele Sambin.
Another touching moment will be in in honour of Albino Marchi, the unforgettable president of the Arco Climbing Club who made all this possiblee, and anche Bepi Filippi, another founding member of the the Arco Rock Master.
