For four days, from October 16-19, the renowned sponge-diving island of Kalymnos in Greece once again established itself as a premier destination for the international climbing community, showcasing its unique combination of world-class routes, authentic hospitality, and cultural richness.

The climbing festival offered a dynamic blend of athletic pursuits, cultural experiences, and community engagement. Participants explored the island's most iconic cragswhile enjoying educational workshops, film screenings, panel discussions, exhibitions, and culinary events that highlighted Kalymnos's natural beauty and cultural heritage.

The event featured appearances by internationally acclaimed figures in the climbing and mountaineering world. Silvo Karo, a living legend of Slovenian mountaineering and Piolet d'Or recipient, shared his decades of experience with attendees. Silvia Loreggian from Italy, one of the world's most active female mountain guides, inspired participants with her expertise and passion. Marcin Jamkowski, a Polish cinematographer and former editor-in-chief of National Geographic Poland, premiered his film Stronger than Ever — a powerful tribute to human resilience and the climbing community. Greek climbers Kostas Grafanakis and Manthos Valsamidis, who combine scientific backgrounds with a deep passion for nature, represented the country's growing climbing culture and contributed to showcasing Greece as a destination with a vibrant outdoor community.

"Kalymnos has once again demonstrated that climbing is more than just a sport — it's a philosophy of life," said Kalliopi Koutouzi Vogelzang, Deputy Mayor of Tourism. "Through this festival, our island showcases its natural beauty, hospitality, and authenticity that today's travelers seek. Climbing serves as an ambassador for experiential tourism and the sustainable development we envision for Kalymnos."

The festival was made possible through the support of the Municipality of Kalymnos, CK Strategies, and the dedicated involvement of local associations, volunteers, and business owners whose enthusiasm contributed to an event that transcends sport and positions the island as a meeting point for cultures, people, and ideas.

Kalymnos offers more than spectacular limestone cliffs and perfect Mediterranean weather—it provides a transformative experience. The island serves as a bridge between nature and humanity, where adventure meets tranquility and effort transforms into inspiration.

The festival will return in 2-3-4 October 2026, with the promise of welcoming even more climbers and nature enthusiasts to an island that continues to reach new heights.
