It's no secret that Yannick Flohé is considered one of the most powerful climbers in the world and just the other day the 25-year-old German climber directed his immense strength at Janus. The route in question, an old project of Philipp Warda at the Angerstein, was freed by Alexander Megos in 2014 and lay unrepeated until Moritz Welt made the first repeat in May this year. Welt unsurprisingly offered an upgrade to a 9a/+ and after a mere five sessions Flohé confirmed the line of thinking, suggesting 9a+ for this short and powerful overhanging testpiece.

Janus now stands as Flohé's hardest redpoint, alongside another Frankenjura testpiece, Lazarus which he freed earlier this year in 5 sessions. His hardest boulder to date is the 8C+ Ephyra, sent after 6 sessions which happens to be the longest he's ever projected a climb. Who knows what the winner of the Brixen Boulder World Cup might get up when he finally knuckles down and sets his mind to something at his true limit.
