Will Bosi no slouch on Sleepwalker at Red Rocks, USA

On Saturday 20 January William Bosi repeated 'Sleepwalker' at Red Rocks, USA. First ascended by Jimmy Webb in 2018 at 8C+ and repeated on various occasions, Bosi has now suggested a downgrade from 8C+ to 8C.

Scotland's Will Bosi has made surprisingly short work of Sleepwalker, the hugely difficult boulder problem in Black Velvet Canyon, Red Rocks established by Jimmy Webb in 2018. At the time the American suggested the grade 8C+, and since then it has received a flurry of repeats by the likes of Daniel Woods, Nalle Hukkataival, Drew Ruana, Ryuichi Murai and Matt Fultz. Last October America's Zander Waller found a new sequence and consequently proposed a downgrade from 8C+ to 8C.

Using the original sequence, Bosi needed just three sessions for the send and confirmed Waller's suggestion of 8C. He now has his eyes on one of the biggest prizes, namely the sit start; called Return of the Sleepwalker and established by Daniel Woods in 2021, this unrepeated line is the logical next step and one of the few 9A boulder problems in the world.

Will Bosi is currently enjoying a run of form that places him at the absolute forefront of men's bouldering, and has already climbed 9A. In April 2023 he made the coveted second ascent of Burden of Dreams at Lappnor, Finland, while in November 2022 he made the third ascent of Alphane at Chironico in Switzerland.
