New multipitch in Valle del Ferro (Val Masino) by Giacomo Regallo, Marco Zanchetta

The alpinists and Ragni di Lecco members Giacomo Regallo and Marco Zanchetta have opened 'Due anni e un figlio' on Avancorpo del Cavalcorto in Valle del Ferro (Val Masino, Italy). Dedicated to Regallo’s son, the route is described as 'an alternative to the usual mid-grade climbs, suited to those who enjoy slightly wild approaches and to climbers with good footwork and tough skin.'

After identifying a possible line of ascent on Avancorpo del Cavalcorto in Valle del Ferro above Val Masino back in July 2023, two months later Giacomo Regallo and Marco Zanchetta returned to make the first ascent of Due anni e un figlio (“Two Years and a Son”).

The seven-pitch outing climbs a compact slab crossed by a cracks and offers a spectacular view of Monte Disgrazia. It ascends solid rock with knobs and quartz crystals, and features minimal but adequate protection that can be supplemented where possible - making it ideal for climbers looking for an alternative to the classic moderate-difficulty routes.

Due commitments and weather conditions - the face is prone to seeping - the two Ragni di Lecco members put off the first free ascent until the 18th of September 2025, two years after having established the spectacular climb.
