Janja Garnbret, the two-time Olympic champion and undisputed queen of climbing competitions, has just concluded her year as ambassador for Slovenia's "Botrstvo v športu" or the “Godmother of Sport” initiative. The funds will be used to provide scholarships and direct financial support to young promising athletes from underprivilege environments, helping them to continue participating in sport, access coaching and travel to competitions.

Throughout the year, the Slovenian tied her competitions, events appearances, and activities within her own brand and partners to charity. “When I accepted the role, I promised I would be an active ambassador – not just lend my name,” said the 26-year-old.

Throughout 2025, Garnbret tied her competitions, events appearances, and activities within her own brand and partners to charity – proving she can generate substantial social impact. The centerpiece of her ambassador year was a community inspired 24-hour climbing marathon presented by Allianz, held at Slovenska Bistrica Climbing Center. More than 2000 climbers and fans from 23 countries followed the Olympic champion’s invitation to climb together in support of the cause.

After the event, she commented: "We created the right vibe, we involved people, we made it fun – and we raised an incredible amount that surpassed the initial goal of 200k. I’m proud of what we achieved together. Climbing is still a niche sport, but we proved it can also move mountains. Most importantly, this money will help young, talented athletes and para-athletes who would otherwise might have to step back. To me as an athlete and a human being, that’s the biggest reward – to give something back to the next generation.”

As she herself stated, the she exceeded her target of €200,000, ultimately raising €318,291.91. This achievement has undoubtedly made her the driving force behind one of the most significant charity campaigns in the history of climbing.
