Domen Škofic soars across 8a Plane Climb

Slovenia's Domen Škofic has climbed an 8a on the wings of a glider at an altitude of 2500m.

Yep, it's a Red Bull stunt. But it's a good one nevertheless. Slovenia's Domen Škofic has climbed the equivalent of an 8a, set below the wings of a Blanik glider while the aircraft was flying above 2500m.

The winner of the 2016 Lead World Cup, who earlier this year returned to fighting form with his 9b/+ redpoint of Move at Flatanger, set the route with the help of his father who crafted the holds to withstand 1.2 tons of force. After months of wind tunnel training, parachute jumps and route simulations, Škofic travelled to Aigen im Ennstal, Austria, at the end of August to attempt the send.

During the flight the 31-year-old started from the cockpit's rear seat, equipped only parachute, and climbed wing-to-wing in a figure-eight pattern. Adding to the technical difficulties of the climb were the windspeed up to 100 km/h and the windchill, which brought temperatures down to about –10 °C.
