On 31 May 2025 the Italian ski mountaineer William Boffelli set a new Chamonix - Mont Blanc record, stopping the clock after 4 hours 43 minutes. In doing so he beat the previous Fastest Known Time of 4 hours 54 minutes set by France's Benjamin Vedrines seven days earlier. Both mountaineers ascended the classic Grands Mulets route but after passing the Grand Plateau the Frenchman veered left via Le Corridor and Col de la Brenva, while the Italian ascended the Vallot route.
