Walter, after your friend and climbing partner Karl remained forever on Nanga Parbat in 2008, you decided to return to the highest mountains in the world. They were your world, the world of Karl. Destiny has now reserved you the same fate. May you rest in peace and climb all the mountains in paradise together with Karl.
We wish Walter's family, his wife Manuela and his small children Patric and Erik strength and courage and would like to express our sincere condolences.
