After the Polish attempt of Nanga Parbat, abandoned at 6000m for "hellish" winter conditions, let's now keep our fingers crossed for Simone Moro who is currently engaged in his winter attempt of Broad Peak (8048m, Karakorum, Pakistan).

Simone worked hard at establishing C1 at 5800m and then C2 at 6250m, together with climbing companion Shaheen. The route is iced and devoid of snow, and the two have resisted temperatures as low as -45°C. Yesterday the weather improved significantly and the two mountaineers as hoping to make the most to establish C3.

Let's hear what Simone had to asy in his latest dispatch: "This morning we started from BC and after 2 hours and 40 minutes we arrived at C1. We pulled down the tent, took all our equipment and climbed to camp 2. Arrived there we established our camp 2. Tomorrow we will reach camp 3 and sleep there and complete so our acclimatisation. Also today it was a beautiful day and the cold was really supportable. "
