Fossil is probably the last route in the Gorz sector, the deepest part of the Bletterbach Gorge, which had never been climbed before. The drip had probably never formed as much as this year. It is located to the left of Erfrischend Eisig and receives the sun in the late morning, so it is advisable to set off early due to the quality of the ice and to avoid falling rocks if there is little snow on the slopes above.

The route is protected with bolts, the quality of the rock as with all routes in the canyon varies, depending on the layer of stratified rock. We graded the first 25m pitch M7+, the second M7 WI4 (pay attention to how much the ice is attached to the rock). A third 40m WI3+ pitch is possible, with abseil descent via Abalakov. Approach 1 hour, as for Eisgeist and Eistänzer.
