Last night an earthquake hit Sikkim, India, causing devastation and at least 40 deaths between dIndia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Tibet.

The earthquake that shook the northern region of Sikkim at 18.10 measured 6.8 on the Richter scale and the epicentre was located in the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area. Tremors were felt in New Delhi and also on the slopes of Mount Everest.
According to montagna.tv, the EvK2Cnr laboratory-observatory at 5050m on the southern slopes of Mount Everest recorded the tremors for 47 minutes while avalanches were triggered on the highest mountain in the world. According to the site, at present no alpinists have been injured.
