Curnis and Moro summit Everest

Mario Curnis and Simone Moro reach the summit of Everest on 24 May
“Hi! We were on the summit! Fantastic, a fantastic day! Not even a cloud in sight. Zero wind, and we were without gloves for a short while. Mario is happy, and I’m happy for him.”

These were Simone Moro’s words via satellite telephone from Everest - 24 May at about 07.00 Nepal Time. Together with Mario Curnis and Ang Mingma he reached the 8850m high summit from the north. After havig successfully climbed Cho Oyu at the start of May this is Moro's second 8000m peak in 2002, Mario Curnis’ ascent may well be record worthy, as the 66-year-old Italian is believed to be the oldest mountaineer to set foot on the summit of Everest. Congratulations!
