Highest webcams in Europe at the Passo dello Stelvio

Four webcams installed at 3200m send images of one the most spectacular panoramas in the Alps

The Italian Banca Popolare di Sondrio has installed four webcams at the Stelvio Pass on the Italian border with Switzerland. Situated at an altitude of 3200m, these webcams are believed to be the highest in Europe. In winter the cameras must withstand extreme temperatures of up to -40 °C and gusts of wind of up to 150 Km/h.

The sweeping view over Mt. Ortles (3905m) in the massive Ortles-Cevedale range is widely considered to be one the most spectacular panoramas in the Alps. It really is worth seeing these images, especially since the weather in N. Italy is fantastic today.
