On 7 - 8 September 2012 Alessandro Baù, Alessandro Beber and Nicola Tondini made the first free ascent of Colonne d'Ercole (1200m, max IX, obl. VIII+) up Punta Tissi on the NW Face of Civetta, Dolomites, the great new route they established between 2009 and 2012.

Cortina Mountain Guida Enrico Maioni presents Via Leila, a new climb up Cason de Formin in the Dolomites first ascended by Aldo Vascellari, Federico Zanettin and Giovanni Zanettin.

American alpinists Hayden Kennedy and Kyle Dempster have made the third ascent of Ogre (Baintha Brakk) 7,285m in Karakorum via a new route up the South Face.

Austrian climbers Hansjörg Auer and Much Mayr have made the first free ascent of L'ultimo dei paracadutisti (8b+, 750m), the superb route established by Mariano Frizzera, Paolo Leoni and Graziano Maffei up the South Face of the Marmolada, Dolomites.

Climbing is prohibited at the French crag Seynes until 15 September 2012.

In August 2012 a Bulgarian expedition comprised of Doychin Boyanov, Tervel Kerelov, Michail Michailov and Nikolay Petkov made the first ascents of Levski Peak (5733m) and Grey Tower (5435m) in the Khane Valley, Pakistan.

2/09/2012. At the Arco Climbing Stadium Alex Pucciogtom America won the Rock Master Boulder 2012, beating Melissa Le Neve (Fra) and Katharina Saurwein (Aut). Russia's Dmitrii Sharafutdinov won the men's event by beating his teammateRustam Gelmanov and Slovenia's Klemen Becan.

The Ennio Lattisi Trophy, alias the Duel, was won by Jakob Schubert and Dinara Fakhritdinova who beat Adam Ondra and Angela Eiter respectively.

Angela Eiter from Austria and Ramón Julian Puigblanque from Spain have won their 6th Rock Master Lead. No one ever before has done better than them. Leonardo Gontero raced to the historic first-ever Italian victory in the Speed World Cup during the Arco Rock Master di Arco. Russia's Alina Gaydamakina won the women's event.

Angela Eiter and Ramon Julien Puigblanque qualify for the Rock Master Lead with today's only two tops. All the best qualify for the Lead final including Adam Ondra (2°), Jakob Schubert (3°), Jorg Verhoeven (4à). Italian hopes high for Jenny Lavarda (3a) and Silvio Reffo (7°).
