During the first half of August 2006 the Italians Mauro Florit, Marco Sterni, Rolando Larcher and Maurizio Oviglia traveled to Turkey's Guvercinlik Valley in the Ala Daglar massif where they established four new routes.

On July 7th 2006 Ondra Benes from the Czech Republic made a swift repeat of Beat Kammerlander's legendary Silbergeier 8b+ in Rätikon, Switzerland.

The first edition of the Arco Rock Legends held in Arco (Trentino, N. Italy) went to Josune Bereziartu from Spain (Salewa Rock Award) and Angela Eiter from Austria (La Sportiva Competition Award).

On 16 July the German mountaineer Robert Jasper teamed up with Stefan Eder from Austria to make the first free ascent of Yeti, the route fist climbed in 1998 by the Italians Andrea Forlini and Gianni Faggiana on the North Face of the Eiger.

Dodo Kopold and Gabo Cmarik have made the f.a. of the NW Face of Uli Biaho 6417m, Karakorum, Pakistan. They also climbed a route up Hainabrakk East Tower (5800m) to 5375m.

Josune Bereziartu and Rikar Otegui have made the first free ascent of the 1981 aid route Divina Comedia 7c in the Ordesa National Park, Spain.

Maurizio "Manolo" Zanolla has climbed the 150m "Solo per vecchi guerrieri", 8c/9a max and 7c/8a obligatory on the Vette Feltrine, Dolomites.

Rock Junior returns to Arco on 17 and 18 June. This is the first great event of the season which promises something completely new: the legendary Rock Master competition will be joined this year by the first ever Arco Rock Legends Award!

Arnold Senfter and Martin Moser from N. Italy, have made the first ascent of "Clean è Morto" on the North Face of the Croda Rossa pre-summit (3146m) in the Dolomites.

Cesare Bugada, Simone Pedeferri and Marco Vago, establish "Le berbere et la gazelle" 7c+ on the Poisson Sacret wall, Todra gorge, Morocco

Rich Simpson has made the first ascent of A Muerte 8c+/9a at Siurana, Spain

Scott Muir from Scotland has just made the second ascent of one of America’s hardest mixed routes, Jedi Mind Tricks M13, Colorado, USA

At the start of January two Swiss climbers, 19-year old Gabriel Grünenwald and 23-year old Simon Oswald, made the first and second full repeat of The Flying Circus, Robert Jasper’s multi-pitch M10 at the Breitwangfluh, Kandersteg

On 24 January Albert Leichtfried made the first ascent of "Illuminati", a 5 pitch mixed outing located in Val Lunga, close to Selva Gardena (South Tyrol) N. Italy . The 30 year old Austrian has put forward the impressive grade M11+/WI 6+.

Cristian Brenna climbed in the Czech Republic andSardinia where he repeated "Sapientino" (8c) and "Anime Salve" (8b+) and on-sighted "XL" 8a/a+, "Raoni" 8a and "Totem" 8a at Cala Fuili, and "Manifesto" 8a at Jerzu.

From the end of July to 4 Spetember Mauro 'Bubu' Bole and Mario Cortese made the first ascent of Le nez (1300m, max 7c), on the north face of P.ta Croz, Grandes Jorasses, Mont Blanc.
