8 August for Human rights in Tibet: The Sad Smoky Mountains & Skyscrapers
On Friday 8 August at 13.00, at the same time as the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games in Peking, teams worldwide will light flares to demonstrate their solidarity for the Tibetan people and to underline their support for basic human rights.
The Sad Smoky Mountains & Skyscrapers
Synchronized with the beginning of the Opening Ceremony of the XXIX Olympic Games in Peking, teams from the "Sad Smoky Mountains" will flare the skies with red smoke from skyscrapers, monuments and major buildings in cities and from the summits of more than 100 mountains on three continents. Promoted by Anterssas and supported by associations such as Mountain Wilderness, the Italy-Tibet association and The Department of Human Rights of the University of Padua, the initiative will commence on Friday 8 August at 13.00.
