Massive rockfall took place yesterday morning on the NE Face of Pizzo Cengalo in Switzerland, tumbling into Val Bondasca and causing considerable problems down in Val Bregaglia where, due to the exceptional landslide, the inhabitants of Bondo, Promontogno, Sottoponte and Spino were evacuated.

Signs of imminent rockfall had occurred recently, and walkers and mountaineers had been advised not to use the Viale path that traverses across from Rifugio Sciora where this video was filmed ,to Rifugio Sasc Foura at the foot of Piz Badile. The landslide is estimated at around 4 million cubic meters, much larger therefore than the one that took place on the NNE Face in 2011.
