Monte Rosa Ski Rider
The second edition of the international MonteRosaSkiRider takes place in Valle di Gressoney, Valle d’Aosta on 16-17/04/2004
| The idea is a simple one: get to the top of a mountain and descend as fast as you can, by whatever means possible. And this the formula for the MonteRosaSkiRider, the off-piste race which celebrates its second edition in Valle dAosta this weekend. Last year 150 riders took part in the competition, and the organisers expect as many as 300 this year. The rules are simple: five riders (ski, snowboard or telemark) compete in a series of head to heads, and the fastest wins. ![]() The first descent is 1100m long, while the second a staggering 1500m. Last year's times to beat are 5 mins 18 secs and 7 mins 03 seconds. For the record, 8 of the top 10 were French, the fastest snowboarder placed 37th, and the fastest telemark skier placed 21st. all photos by Andrea Gallo |
