Adam Ondra making the first free ascent of Příklepový strop, a historic aid line in the Macocha cave at Moravský Kras in the Czech Republic
As previously reported, in early December 2022 Adam Ondra freed an old aid climb in the Moravský Kras region of the Czech Republic. The route in question is called Příklepový strop and, with its 5 pitches up to 8b+, hails as the both the longest and most difficult multi-pitch in the country...
What makes Ondra's ascent special though is the fact that the climb is located deep in the bowels of the Macocha cave - a massive sinkhole famous for being the deepest daylight hole cave in Europe - and that climbing is permitted only upon special request, and for a mere 5 days in the month of December.
