Martina Demmel is undoubtedly one of the most impressive emerging talents on the world's sport climbing stage. In April this year the German had redpointed her first 9a, Joe-cita at Oliana in Spain, a few days after having onsighting an 8b+ at the same crag.

These are incredible achievements, even the more so when you consider the fact that until four years ago she was a ski racer and had never touched a hold. Here's a great portrait of the 19-year-old for the series La Sportiva Living Legends.
