Jernej Kruder's spring sends in Slovenia

After lockdown rules have relaxed in Slovenia and with international competitions cancelled, Jernej Kruder has been unleashing his energies outdoors with a rare spring sending spree that has ranged from short intense boulder problems to the 300m 7c multi-pitch Sreča va vrvici at Planjava.

What is striking though is the sheer volume of single pitch sports climbs, listed below, which culminated in the first ascent of Peščena ura at the picturesque crag Sopota. The 29 year old had bolted the line years ago and originally climbed it via an 8c+/9a variation start since the initial boulder had proven too difficult. Now, with time on his hands for rock climbing outdoors and stronger than ever before, he returned to free the original start which goes at 9a.

Kruder’s next stop is the European Championship in Moscow in October, where his sights are set on that last qualification ticket to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. While some may argue his Speed, Lead and Boulder training appears a little unorthodox, with Kruder's power and drive you just never know.
