Günther Karbon at Pian Schiavaneis, Dolomites
Yesterday at the small crag Pian Schiavaneis, nestled below the massive Piz Ciavazes and Sass Pordoi Dolomite peaks, Günther Karbon repeated Lo spreco 8c+. Making the most of these last perfect autumn days, the 27-year-old South Tyrolean climber managed to link these 25m of tiny crimps, first freed in 2007 by local Mario Prinoth and repeated by Luca Zardini and Rudi Moroder.
Impressively, Karbon needed just 12 attempts spread out over 4 days to get to grips with his first 8c+. What makes it all the more impressive though is the fact that the has only been climbing for 6 and a half years, and that he started when he was 20.
