Elias Iagnemma confirmed what many had quietly been thinking for quite some time, namely that he is one of the strongest boulderers not only in Italy but worldwide with his convincing repeat of Gioia at Varazze.

Christian Core's masterpiece dates back to 2008 has so far resisted all suitors except for Adam Ondra (2011), Nalle Hukkataival (2014) and Niccolò Ceria (2020). On Saturday 13 February 25-year-old Iagnemma added his name to this elusive list by completing the sequence of tiniest crimps that traverses the cave from left to right in the Antro dei druidi sector.

Iagnemma used the knee bar discovered by the visiting American climbers in 2015, and before his success he fell off the last move and was forced wait fifteen days for perfect conditions to return. According to Iagnemma the grade settles in at 8C/+.
