Maurizio Giordani and Massimo Faletti have made the first ascent of the 28-pitch "Colpo di Coda" 6c+/A2 up the south face of the Marmolada.

arch. Maurizio Giordani Maurizio Giordani and Massimo Faletti have climbed a new route up the south face of the Marmolada. In August the duo made the first ascent of the 28-pitch "Colpo di Coda" which takes a line between Via dell'Ideale (first ascended in 1964 by Armando Aste and Franco Solina) and Via Abrakadabra (first ascended by Heinz Mariacher and Luisa Iovane in 1980). Colpo di Coda is graded 6c+/A2 as two short sections weren't freed due to the rock being wet. All pegs used during the first ascent have been left in-situ and Giordani, a Marmolada expert, commented "the route is really beautiful, in line with the ethics and the history of this face!" Maurizio Giordani is currently preparing a new guidebook for Versante Sud which will include more than 150 routes on the Queen of the Dolomites.
