The beautiful granite crag Cala Usai, located in an old quarry but nevertheless in beautiful surroundings, now has a new sector called "Piazzetta sottovento". As the name suggests, the sector is particularly suited on days of strong Scirocco or Grecale, when the wind makes climbing in the main sector unpleasant. The routes have all been added by Maurizio Oviglia and bolted with stainless steel 316L. One route had been bolted a while back by Valentina Melis. The climbs Pattern and Pagliaccio need some further cleaning as the rock is somewhat floury.

Thanks to Simone Lussu and Edoardo Ottone for having contributed to the costs of the new routes. The video, produced by Sara Oviglia and with additional footage from Paolo Contini, gives (in part) an idea about the beauty of the crag. (M.O.)
